Fassil Michael is the Head of Thought Leadership for ISS Governance Solutions. He brings an invaluable breadth of governance, client and company knowledge to the role, with over two decades of corporate governance and ESG experience at ISS. In this role, he directs and coordinates thought leadership in support of maintaining ISS’ standing as the global leader in providing the highest quality governance research and related services, business growth, marketing opportunities and promotion of our products and expertise, and plays a key role in representing ISS with clients and in the market. He supports all businesses in ISS Governance Solutions, with a particular focus on ISS Governance Research & Voting. A member of ISS’ Global Policy Board, Fassil previously served on the Council of Institutional Investors’ Markets Advisory Council.

Prior to his current role, Fassil was ISS’ Global Head of Custom Research. With more than twenty years of experience, Fassil was responsible for managing the Global Custom Research, US Custom Research and Social Advisory Services teams, oversaw the implementation of 400+ proxy-voting policies for institutional clients worldwide, and provided corporate governance policy consulting and development services to many institutional investor clients.

Fassil is a graduate of Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT where he earned a B.A. in International Politics and Economics (IP&E), with a focus on economics.
