New Offering Draws on Industry Leading Environmental, Social & Governance Data And Research
ROCKVILLE, Md. (March 4, 2019) — ISS ESG, the responsible investment arm of Institutional Shareholder Services Inc., today announced the launch of ESG Index Solutions to allow investors to identify, benchmark, and track portfolio companies with superior environmental, social, and governance performance and to successfully realize their own indexing strategies.
The ESG Index Solutions offering consists of Turnkey Index Solutions and Custom Index Solutions. Both draw on the broad expertise of ISS’ responsible investment business and are designed to align with investors’ specific index requirements.
ISS ESG´s Turnkey Index Solutions can be used to support both benchmark series as well as thematic indices. Investors can license turnkey indices from global index providers, powered by ISS’ comprehensive and high-quality ESG data, enabling investors to benchmark and track the performance of their portfolio or to create index-linked investment products such as ETFs. ISS supports index construction by the index providers with screening, ratings and rankings, climate data, deep corporate governance content as well as impact and SDG assessment.

Examples for ISS ESG supported indices include the recently launched Solactive ISS ESG Screened Index Series, the Stoxx Low Carbon Indices, the Global Challenges Index and the OMX Stockholm 30 ESG Responsible Index.
With Custom Index Solutions, investors are able to combine ISS’ unique and proprietary data with an index provider of their choice. This allows investors to promote unique ESG strategies with broad ESG insight and the creation of exclusive, tailor-made indices to best meet individual investors’ demands and objectives. Indices using Custom Index Solutions can be set up thematically (e.g., with a focus on climate change or water impact) or according to a wide set of client-specific ESG requirements.
