TOKYO (November 2, 2017) – Institutional Shareholder Services Inc. (ISS), a leading provider of corporate governance and responsible investment solutions to financial market participants, today announced the appointment of Ichiro Ouchi, CFA, as Head of Japan Client Services.
Ouchi will be responsible for maintaining ISS’ status as the market’s and industry’s premier governance research and voting provider. He will also lead efforts to develop and deliver solutions and services to institutions with an emphasis on providing resources needed to assist them as signatories to Japan’s Stewardship Code.
Reporting to Lorraine Kelly, ISS’ Head of Governance Business, Ouchi will also be responsible for engaging with local market participants to ensure ISS accounts for the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) perspectives and needs of Japanese institutions.

Previously, Ouchi served as Managing Director and Co-Head of Capital Markets Origination at Citigroup Global Markets and before that as Managing Director and Head of Equity-Linked Origination at UBS Investment Bank. His tenure in Japan’s financial services sector spans nearly three decades across a variety of functions. Ouchi, who is both a Chartered Financial Analyst and Certified Management Accountant, holds a BA from the University of Tokyo and an MSc from the London Business School.
